Treatment at New Frontier Recovery Center is built from several therapies that work together across a stay, from the first days of detox through residential care and discharge planning. No single approach does the whole job. Behavioral therapy helps a person recognize and change the thoughts and situations that lead to use, skills work builds new ways to handle stress and strong emotions, and family sessions repair the relationships that addiction strains. Each one is delivered inside substance use treatment at our Huntley, Montana facility, not as a standalone service.

The therapies used here are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma therapy, along with group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy. Which ones a person receives, and in what balance, is a clinical decision based on their history, the substance involved, and any co-occurring conditions. This page introduces each modality and links to a fuller explanation of how it is used in our residential program.

Important medical disclosure

This page is educational information, not medical advice. Questions

Therapy FAQs

Which therapies does New Frontier use?
New Frontier uses cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma therapy, delivered through group sessions, individual counseling, and family therapy. Medication management is also part of care where clinically appropriate.
Can I come to New Frontier for therapy alone?
No. Every therapy here is delivered inside substance use disorder treatment during detox and residential care. New Frontier does not offer standalone mental health therapy, and there is no mental health license at launch.
How is it decided which therapies I receive?
The therapies a person receives are matched to their needs during a clinical assessment, based on their substance use history, any co-occurring mental health symptoms, and how they respond to treatment. The plan is adjusted as care continues.
Are therapies delivered in groups or one-to-one?
Both. Group therapy is the backbone of most residential days, individual sessions give a person private time with a therapist, and family sessions bring in the people around them. Most stays include all three.
Does New Frontier treat co-occurring mental health conditions?
Yes. Co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma are addressed within substance use treatment through the therapies on this page. New Frontier treats these symptoms alongside the substance use, not as a separate mental health program.
