Who We Are

New Frontier Recovery Center is a substance use disorder treatment facility in Huntley, Montana, just outside Billings in Yellowstone County. We provide medically monitored detox and inpatient residential treatment for adults, roughly ages 18 to 64, of all genders. The name reflects both a Montana identity and the idea that recovery is a new beginning, and the facility was built to give people in our region a private, clinically sound option close to home.

We treat all substance use disorders, including alcohol, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, prescription opioids, cocaine, benzodiazepines, cannabis, and polysubstance use. We also treat co-occurring mental health conditions alongside addiction through our dual diagnosis approach. Care is delivered in a small setting on one property, so a person can move from detox into residential treatment without a disruptive handoff.

Ownership

New Frontier Recovery Center is owned and operated by Andrew Spahn, with Brandan Freeman as co-founder. Ownership shaped the facility around a simple goal, which is to offer quality, commercially insured and self-pay treatment in a part of Montana that has had few options for it.

Ownership sets the direction and standards of the organization. The clinical care itself is delivered by our licensed clinical team, and level-of-care and treatment decisions are always clinical decisions made by that team.

Our Licensure

New Frontier Recovery Center is licensed by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) through its Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division. Our medically monitored detox program (ASAM Level 3.7-WM) and our inpatient residential program (ASAM Level 3.5) have been submitted to and approved by DPHHS.

Licensing through the state means our detox and residential levels of care are held to Montana's standards for substance use disorder treatment. We describe our licensure plainly and do not claim credentials or accreditations we have not yet obtained.

Our Clinical Model

Our model is built around two connected levels of care on one property. Medically monitored detox comes first for people who need supervised withdrawal management, with medications administered on a schedule and rest in a private room. Residential treatment follows, with a structured daily schedule of group sessions, individual sessions, meals, and rest.

Because addiction and mental health so often travel together, we treat co-occurring conditions in the same program rather than sending people elsewhere. Our therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma therapy, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and medication management. Treatment is individualized, and length of stay is clinically driven.

The Standards We Hold Ourselves To

We keep the facility small on purpose. With fourteen beds in total, six for detox and eight for residential, staff can know each person and care can stay closely supervised. We believe treatment should be honest about what it is and what it is not, so we describe our programs, our licensure, and our costs in plain language.

Admissions are confidential from the first call. We verify insurance benefits confidentially before anyone commits, and self-pay is welcome. We do not offer financing or a sliding scale, and we say so directly rather than implying otherwise. Everything we publish about treatment is meant to help a person make an informed decision.
